OC Riders Meet-Up:
We'll kick off our journey bright and early, gathering at the Moshen Gas Station on Springdale and Westminster, 5981 Westminster Ave, at 7:00 AM. After a quick pre-ride meeting, we'll have kickstands up by 7:30 AM, ready to embark on an unforgettable ride through some of Southern California’s most stunning landscapes.
LA Riders Meet-Up:
We'll journey up the 405 and Pick up any LA Riders at 8:15-8:30 am at the Mobile Gas station off the 405 on Sepulveda and Santa Monica, 1660 S Sepulveda Blvd, West Los Angeles, CA 90025. KSU 8:30, please don't be late.
The Ride:
Our adventure begins as we cruise north on the 405, taking in the early morning calm before merging onto the 101. We'll peel off the 101 freeway and head up CA-23, a hidden gem of a road that winds us into the peaceful town of Santa Paula. From there, we’ll take the scenic CA-150, a road known for its sweeping curves and beautiful vistas, leading us into the oasis artist haven of Ojai.
Ojai Gas and Pit Stop:
Our next stop is the Shell station at 616 Ojai Ave, where we'll refuel both our bikes and our spirits. Ojai is a laid-back, picturesque town nestled in a green valley, known as an artist community and for it's serene atmosphere.
Los Padres National Forest:
Leaving Ojai, we’ll head north on CA-33, a road that cuts through the heart of the Los Padres National Forest. This stretch of highway is a motorcyclist’s dream, offering a thrilling ride through rugged mountains and canyons. It's been noted there is active construction going on the 33, with one way construction stop lights, so be patient. The natural beauty here is awe-inspiring, with the road climbing to high elevations, providing breathtaking views at every turn.
Ventucopa & Hudson Ranch Road:
After weaving through the mountains, we'll pass down through the Ventucopa area, a quiet spot surrounded by wide-open spaces in the Cuyama Valley. This is where you can test, if you dare, how fast your bike can go on a 20-25 mile straight-away in the middle of no where. We then take Hudson Ranch Road, a lesser-known route that offers solitude and stunning landscapes, called the "Coolies", with sweeping gentle turns at speed, leading us back up into the Mountains before we head down into Frazier Park.
Stretch Break Intersection of 166 and Hudson Road:
Get off the bikes and cool the engines, have a snack and drink some water, we're going up into the mountains again, and back down.
Frazier Park Lunch:
Our next stop is Mike's Pizza Co. (6930 Lake Pl, Frazier Park, CA 93225), a cozy mountain town nestled in the Tehachapi Mountains. This stop gives us a chance to refuel our bodies with some cheesy pizza, Pitchers of Beer, and take in the fresh Pine Tree mountain air. The town's rustic charm and the surrounding pines make it a perfect midpoint to relax before we head home.
The Blast Back Home:
After lunch, we’ll make a quick stop at the Flying J to top off our tanks, ensuring we’re ready for the final leg. From there, it’s a straight shot down the I-5, blasting back towards Orange County. The open highway gives us a chance to unwind from the twists and turns of the mountains, with plenty of time to reflect on the day’s adventure and split lanes instead of being stopped in traffic.
This ride offers a perfect mix of everything a rider could want—scenic canyon highways, challenging mountain pass roads, deep peaceful valleys, sweeping high speed "coolies" and twisties and wide-open desert landscapes. Starting with the tranquil morning air near the coast, transitioning into the vibrant artistic community of Ojai, and then powering through the thrilling curves of the Los Padres National Forest, this ride is as varied as it is beautiful.
This isn’t just a ride—it’s an adventure that takes you through the heart of Southern California’s most breathtaking landscapes, each mile offering something new and exciting. So get ready for a day that will challenge, inspire, and leave you wanting more. See you at the gas station, ready to roll!
